About This Website

Each municipality is thinking what urban structures ought to be for the coming age of a population declining society, and the policy of master plan of each city is open to the public by local government. However, some parts of the plan need residents' cooperation (e.g. location change of the residential area) reflecting the evaluation from the citizen's perspective to the plan is important to create an effective plan.

By using the policy of master plan which the municipality is currently creating as input data, this tool make it possible to show how the citizen's living environment will change in the future if the urban structure changes according to the plan, through simple simulation with 14 indicators. To evaluate the plan, it displays being compared the current value and the value in the future while keeping the current urban structure. At the same time, by collecting evaluations from citizens through questionnaires, we expect this system to be ,so to speak, a meeting place for citizens' opinions and the future image of the city that the government draws.

important notice

My City Forecast shows the result of estimated transition of cities based on urban information and some assumptions about the transition. Therefore, it includes some errors (detailed estimation method and usage data are here for details). It is not a tool to insist whether each city plan is good or not. It aims to let the citizen evaluate the current urban planning by giving them information through this tool.
